The signboards carry very important information including names of places, milestones, shops, hospitals, public and private buildings, traffic signs, navigation information, advertisements, public notices, and social and cultural messages (Bains, J. K., Singh, S., & Sharma, A, 2020).
Since signboards are significant for the business since it provides information to the audience, it is significant to analyze the contents of the signboards. Therefore, I would like to, first, look at the types of content that signboards of sex industries in Kabuki-cho include.
Name of the Store
As well as most of the other sex industries, the signboards of fashion health usually have the name of the store largely on the signboards. This is one of the most famous fashion health in Kabuki-cho named Nozokibeya Madonna where it is located in front of the TOHO cinema. Other than this fashion health, Madonna, many of the health are emphasizing their store name in order to give impression to the audiences.
Price
Prices are mostly written on the signboards as well as the name of the store. In most of the cases, the prices are also written in large size of texts so that people can see easily even though they are standing far away. Since Kabuki-cho is one of the most famous battlefield of fashion health in Japan, all the healths are appealing their affordable price. In fact, Baby Boo, which is one of the fashion healths in Kabuki-cho, are offering special discounts depending on the customers. (Specific description on the sub page)
“Fashion Health”
Fashion health often writes “fashion health” on the signboards while some of the other sex businesses such as pink salon does not write their specific sex business genre on the signboards.
Attendance Number
The signboard of Petit Doll in Kabuki-cho shows the attendance number of the workers at the moment as signboards in relatively large text size. By appealing the high attendance rate to the customers, the customers would probably feel confortable entering the health since they certainly have several options of the girls if they go in.

Although there are some images on signboards of fashion health, there are relatively less number of images compared to signboards of other sex industries. The image on the right is the close up of the entrance of the fashion health, Petit Doll, which is the same health as the picture above. Although the images of two girls are shown in the electronic signboards and some pictures are hanged on the wall, all of the images are not as large as other texts. Also, they never show the faces of the girls of the image. Here, the health is protecting the privacy of the girls from the public.

Recruitment Flyer
This is another picture from the fashion health, Petit Doll. It is written RECRUITMENT with the some payments with it. They are appealing the fact that they are officially recruiting the workers in the business. Many of the sex businesses does not recruit the workers directly in each stores. They rather use the mediator to get referred to the girls who are interested working in the industry so that they can hide the detailed information, which might partially be illegal. However, as this business put the recruitment flyer officially in the building, they are giving the “safe” impression to not only the customers but also the girls interested to the work by its legal business.
