SOAP LAND – CONTENT

Name of the Store

As well as the other businesses, soap land has the name of the store on the signboards. Since soap lands often have specific contents (explained more in 🛀🏻Strategies for Communicating), the name itself, and the use of color, images, and fonts were different from each other that they did not have common features.

Price

As well as in other industries, the prices are written on the signboard. However, this was the only signboard that specifically mentioned the price by time. (The signboards are in the left side of the entrance.) Also, compared to other industries, the text size of the price is small and it is difficult to see the price unless people walk nearby the signboards. This signboard seemed to maintain a luxurious atmosphere by using the same silver signboards as the name of the store. Also, because it only mentions the pricing and time, and people cannot understand what kinds of services they can enjoy, it is difficult to understand that this SPA is a soap land without researching it.

“Soap Land” sign

While most of the other industries do not writes their industry name on signboards (e.g. 🎀Pink Salon), soap lands often shows the “soap land” sign on their signboards, which enables the customers easy to understand the business inside. In fact, the signboard of this soap land shows six “soap land” signs in total, and the largest sign is about three meters long, which enables the customers easy to understand the fact that this business is soap land. In contrast, however, This sign is not protecting the privacy of the customers since other pedestrians would immediately notice people entering the soap land thanks to the large sign of “soap land.”

Companion Recruitment Flyer

One of the unique features of the contents on soap land signboards in Kabuki-cho is the fact that they have a companion recruitment flyer. While companion recruitment flyers were not found on signboards of other industries, most of the soap land signboards have these flyers. In the flyer, terms such as “expensive payment”, “luxury”, and “from 400,000 yen” were written and they also had the phone number so that people who are interested in the work can easily contact to the store.

What is more, while the other industries are having normal flyer such as by saying “RECRUITMENT FOR GIRLS”, the soap land is stating “RECRUITMENT FOR COMPANIONS” instead, which refers to the assistant, in order to protect the tatemae of the soap land that it is a business of rental shower room with a bathing assistant, and what they do inside the bath are not included as the “service”.

Phone Number and Website Address

As similar as the system of the pink salon, there are phone numbers and website addresses written on the signboard. That is, since soap lands are “rental shower rooms” as tatemae, there is no picture of the girls whose working in soap lands at all. Instead, the customers should search the images of the girl before heading and calling for the appointment so that they can receive the service effectively.
