Introducing the Job

Different Methods of Job Introduction
It is predictable that most of the scouts’ recruiting attempts lead to failures. However, in some cases, there are instances where they make it to the most important and main part of the process, “job introduction.” This part is especially crucial to consider because it could be a waste of their precious time and effort if they fail to impress the targets with the job introduction. Because of this, the scouts have different tactics depending on the types of targets to prevent failure.
Why observe the different methods of job introduction?
By observing the different methods, we are able to analyze how the scouts view various types of girls that can be connected to my other parts of my domains.
There are mainly 2 types of job introduction: Direct and Indirect. We will mainly focus on indirect job introduction because scouts utilize indirect communication to successfully convince targets for this final step of the scouting process.
➡️Direct Introduction
Direct introduction is usually only done when scouts decide that the targets are familiar with the industry. For instance, a current or former workers would fit into this category.
Otherwise they will use different types of indirect introduction to camouflage the dark side of the industry.
1. Comparing
this is one of the methods used that are considered to be a direct introduction. They would compare the current or former workplace that these workers belong/belonged to and claim that the place they introduce would be a better suit for them regarding the working environment, income, human relationship, etc.
➡️Indirect Introduction 🚫
“Indirectness is a fundamental element in human communication.” (Tannen, 1994)
1. Exchanging contact information
This is effective because it allows the targets to consider their offer. It is a win-win for both the targets and the scouts because the targets would not be bothered by the scouts when they have plans or if they don’t want others to see them talking to the scouts because it infers that they are interested in the job offer. The scouts also benefit from this because they can reduce the amount of time they spend on each target.

3. Inviting for a drink to later discuss
Invitation such as
ちょっと飲みに行かない?
[Do you wanna go grab a drink?]
is like a fishing bait for the targets because the scouts will most likely pay for their meals and drinks.
This is an effective method because if they say yes to this invitation, it becomes more difficult to decline their offer. In addition to this, they have more time to build closer ties with the targets and successfully persuade them.

2. Inferring of a better money making opportunity
Because they want to avoid being too direct in some situations (depending on the type of target,) they purposefully infer the job offer rather than introducing. They would especially emphasize the good money making opportunity to those who seem to be in need for money such as Jirai-kei (地雷系), University students, etc.

4. Suggesting 体験入店
This is an interesting case where they suggest the targets to experience joining the industry for a short amount of time, allowing them to leave whenever they want. Although it is usually a never-ending cycle of working as a worker once you enter the industry, 体験入店 seems as an easier and lighter decision-making for the targets.
What is 体験入店?
体験入店 (Taiken Nyuten) is a system generally used in the work industry where the stores offer a trial job experience for those who are interested in working. When having a vague idea of working as a worker, the trial allows them to have a better understanding of the work details and environment, as well as to consider whether the job suits them.
Conclusion
What kind of benefits does the indirect communication bring in this situation?
They want confusion and misunderstanding among the targets to avoid an uncomfortable situation where targets feel uneasy about the industry.
“The overriding goal of the communication exchange is maintaining harmony and saving face” (Corps, 1997).
Indirect communication is the key to avoiding complicated complicated and uncomfortable situations (Joyce, 2012).
As also mentioned in 🗣️Calling section, it is necessary for scouts to utilize every verbal communication method to avoid these kind of situations for their persuasion to be carried successfully. Therefore, indirect communication function as a crucial communication method for scouts.
